Dan Nicoletta by Mister Wa

Photographer Dan Nicoletta has been focusing on the LGBTQ community in San Francisco and beyond for over 35 years. At the age of 19, he started working in Harvey Milk’s camera shop in the Castro district. His work is featured prominently in the Academy-Award winning documentary The Times of Harvey Milk.

Here, Nicoletta is interviewed by Mister Wa, Periwinkle Journal’s new video reporter, at an art show at Electric Works in San Francisco (the show is over). Mister Wa is working on an epic video project documenting the queer art and performance scene in the Bay Area. His film Children of the Cockettes is a mind-blowing, inspirational documentary that continues to evolve as more creators are profiled. Check it out, if you get the chance!
